Spreckels 4th of July Celebration

The 15-member Brass/Percussion Ensemble of Monterey County Pops! will present a free public performance at Spreckels Memorial Park on July 4th from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  The public is also invited to hear the ensemble rehearse from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.  This will be the fourth consecutive year that the group has performed at the Spreckels 4th of July Celebration presented by the Spreckels Volunteer Fire Company.

The powerful ensemble of trumpets, french horns, trombones, euphonium, tuba, percussion and timpani conducted by Music Director, Dr. Carl Christensen, will present a program that includes the patriotic favorites "America the Beautiful", "God Bless America", This Is My Country", and "This Land Is Your Land."

Other selections include marches by John Philip Sousa, the American circus march "Barnum and Bailey's Favorite", the stiring "Battle Hymn of the Republic", and American classics by George M. Cohan and Irving Berlin.
